The Eco Pond Trail starts on main road just past the Flamingo Visitor Center going toward the Flamingo Campground. The pond is on the right. Park on the roadside.

Bicycles allowed: No

The hike: This half-mile (800 meter) loop goes around a fresh water pond quite close to Florida Bay.

This was an exceptional spot for bird photography before many of the trees were destroyed by storms.

Wildlife is slowly returning with the chance to see wading birds, songbirds, alligators, and other wildlife.

The best wildlife viewing normally is early and late.
