Flamingo Area Activities
Flamingo is visited throughout the year because anglers came here throughout the day and night. Fuel sale for anglers begins at either 6a.m. or 7 a.m. and closes around 6 p.m.
Marina store hours vary by season.
There is much more to do at Flamingo than fish.
Ranger Guided Tours
The ranger guided tours at Flamingo usually are limited from mid-December to mid-April. After those dates, the only park tours are offered at the Shark Valley and Gulf Coast Visitor Centers. Check the Flamingo guided tour schedule.
Fishing Skiff
Rental of a 17-foot fishing skiff depends on the length of rental. No skiffs are allowed in Florida Bay, only in the backcountry. Deposit required but for much less than a canoe rental. Boats must be returned by 5 p.m.
Canoe the Backcountry.
Canoes
are available year-round for rental at the marina. Canoes are among
the easiest ways to explore or fish the shallow waters here. If you
intend to fish, be prepared to drift when the tide is running.
Canoe and kayak rentals are available from two hours to a full day. Costs depend on length of rental. A substantial credit card deposit is required for rental kayaks. Boats must be returned by 5 p.m.
House Boat Rentals
From October to May
you can rent a 35-foot houseboat that sleeps up to 6 people
from the marina. The boats, powered by a 60hp outboard, come equipped with air conditioning, depth finder, propane, stereo, linens, cookware,
dishes, safety equipment and navigational charts. If you've never piloted
one of these waterborne RVs before, no worry. The marina
staff gives an orientation, as much for the boat's
safety as yours. Reservations required at least a week in advance in summer, months in advance during the cooler months..
Contact: Flamingo Marina, 40001 SR 9336 Homestead, Fl.33034. Call
239/695-3101 or email flamingo@enpbt.com. All rentals are made through the Flamingo Marina. Reservations for all boat rentals should be made at least by 5 p.m. the day before.
In winter, when more people visit, reservations need to be made well in advance, especially for weekends.
